El Dorado Hills Celebrates the Kickoff of America’s 250th Anniversary at Town Center

This past Sunday, October 5, 2025, El Dorado Hills Town Center was alive with patriotism, history, and community spirit as the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), alongside District II chapters and local organizations, hosted a spectacular America 250 Celebration. Part of the national America 250 initiative, this family-friendly event commemorated 250 years of U.S. independence with engaging activities, performances, and living history exhibits.

From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., visitors of all ages enjoyed:

  • Living History Exhibits including the Highway 50 Wagon Train and Haslet’s Delaware Regiment Revolutionary War Re-enactors
  • Patriotic music performances by the Young American Patriots Fife & Drum Corps, John Adams Academy Choir, Marina Village Middle School Advanced Band, and more
  • Family-friendly activities such as a Kids Activity Center, games, coloring, and a photo booth
  • Historical presentations by the El Dorado County Historical Society and Save the Graves, including “The Lincoln Highway Story”
  • Community recognitions including flag folding ceremonies, color guard presentations, and Junior American Citizen Awards
  • Raffles and silent auctions benefiting local organizations

The Rose Garden, Theatre Plaza, and Holiday Inn Express Conference Rooms were filled with informational booths from:

  • Daughters of the American Revolution
  • Sons of the American Revolution
  • Children of the American Revolution
  • El Dorado Hills Genealogy Society

Attendees were encouraged to wear historical or patriotic attire, immersing themselves in the spirit of the nation’s journey from 1776 to today.

Local businesses supported the event with in-kind donations and patriotic displays, helping to create a vibrant, interactive experience. “We are honored to join communities across the nation in celebrating 250 years of independence,” said Sherry Lenci, Event Co-Chair. “This event reflects our pride in our shared history and our hopes for the future.”

The day was a memorable mix of living history, music, community engagement, and family fun. From the parade-like walking exhibits down Town Center Boulevard to interactive educational booths, everyone had a chance to experience the rich legacy and resilience of our nation.

As America approaches its Semiquincentennial, events like these remind us of the importance of celebrating independence, honoring the past, and inspiring future generations.

Here’s to the next chapter in the American story—past, present, and future!

Thank you to all local volunteers, civic officials, County Supervisor Greg Ferrero, EDH Fire, and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s department for support during the event.
